I sanded down an approx 1" wide base the length of the keel/fairbody. Then I cut a 1" wide strip of 1/4" marine ply to be the base for the UHMW keel strip.

On the forward bow panel I laid up two layers of 10 oz cloth to match the two layers on the rest of the hull bottom.

I then bedded the plywood "keel Base" using a mix of epoxy, wood flour, and cabo-sil.

I considered this to be a "structural element" hence the heavy duty bedding compound. After this I figure the remaing layer will be true fairing so I will use a different mix.
