I think Renn said in the book that a 'light" one would be 1500lbs and that was for a 22 footer. So 1200 for the boat alone would be too light - 1900 is certainly possible. I tried to figure mine out by adding the weights of various components - wood, glue, glass and still underestimated a bit.
I weighed mine. My trailer, boat and engine combo, 30gallons of fuel, 2 batteries and all equipment ready to go came in at 4270. 4020 on the scales and 250 tongue weight. If you take away the trailer (900), the engine (425), the fuel (200ish) and the batteries (100ish), the boat with some 'gear' comes in at 2645. Totally stripped it would have to be at least 23-2400.
Heck, I have 450lbs of *epoxy* in my boat. The main stringer weighs close to 200.
